Teachers who moved abroad, how did you sort housing before the first term?
Eleven years in the same school and I have started looking at international posts, mostly because the workload conversation here never actually changes. The part I keep getting stuck on is not the job, it is the housing. Every advert says accommodation allowance and then nobody tells you what that means in practice until after you have signed. For those who made the jump: did you rent blind for the first year, or did you buy once you knew you were staying? How much did you lean on the school's contacts versus finding a place yourself? I would rather hear the awkward version than the recruitment fair one.
